Not only are Vietnamese technology companies expanding their data center infrastructure, international technology companies are also entering the market, with total investment capital expected to reach billions of USD, according to Invest Vietnam\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the demand for AI skyrocketing, the race to build and upgrade data centers in Vietnam is becoming increasingly exciting.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Domestic technology enterprises such as VNPT, Viettel, CMC, FPT, and VNG are actively expanding the scale of their data centers. In particular, CMC plans to invest up to 500 million USD in data centers in Vietnam, Japan, and several other countries by 2028.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Viettel is also not out of the game, planning to deploy 11 large-scale data centers with a total capacity of more than 350 MW, accounting for 40% of the country's total capacity. In particular, Viettel will cooperate with NVIDIA to develop AI data center infrastructure, integrating nearly 800 supercomputers and 6,000 GPU cards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, some new businesses entering the telecommunications market such as DCH Group also have thorough investments and plans to prepare for the construction of Super Data Centers to welcome large customer groups from all over the world that will flock to Vietnam.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Not only domestic enterprises, many international corporations such as Amazon, Microsoft, Supermicro, ST Telemedia Global Data Centers, Google and Alibaba are also expressing goodwill and actively investing in Vietnam, making the market increasingly vibrant. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the latest report by Cushman & Wakefield, Vietnam has a significant advantage in data center investment with an average construction cost of 6.9 million USD\/MW \u2013 among the lowest in the Asia-Pacific region, only higher than Taiwan (China). This figure is significantly lower than China (7.1 million USD), Thailand (7.6 million USD), Indonesia (8.7 million USD) and Malaysia (9 million USD).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the market is increasingly open to foreign investment and a series of administrative reforms are creating more opportunities for international investors and promoting the development of the data center industry in Vietnam. Leading technology giants such as Apple, Intel, Canon, Samsung, LG, LEGO and Airbus are all expressing interest in the Vietnamese market. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although the AI \u200b\u200bdata center market in Vietnam is considered to have great potential, it still faces some major obstacles. One of the most important issues is energy supply. Mr. Thomas Rooney - Deputy Director of Industrial Services at Savills Hanoi said that AI data centers consume 2-5 times more electricity than conventional data centers. Vietnam needs to soon implement a plan to upgrade and expand the power grid and develop renewable energy solutions to ensure a stable power supply for the operation of large-scale data centers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, legal barriers, complex licensing processes and lack of high-quality human resources in the field of AI data centers are factors that Vietnam needs to recognize and overcome. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most recently, Hanoi has officially opened the Hanoi City Main Data Center at Hoa Lac High-Tech Park. With modern cloud computing technology, multi-layered security and integration of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data and the Internet of Things, the Hanoi City Main Data Center is bringing benefits to the government, people and businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
